Organic Evening at Eve

Here at the Enchanted Florist, we love all things green. So when we were asked to create a lush tablescape of organic and “green” elements for a client hosting a group of leaders in the field of renewable energy, biotechnology, and sustainable development, we were on it!! Even sweeter – the event took place in Restaurant Eve‘s intimate “Sunflower Room”, the perfect setting for this nature-inspired soiree. Using succulents, moss balls, ferns, river rocks, birch bark, dogwood branches, and more — we were able to create a setting that carried the gorgeous garden of Restaurant Eve indoors, and brought the client’s vision to life.

Update: Received this lovely email from the client, which always makes what we do that much more fun!

Oh my, it was absolutely perfect! Enchanting is apropos. Only wish had taken a picture — got there later than planned, and whirlwind once stepped through threshold into room full of delights.

Cherry Blossom Wedding at Belle Haven Country Club

We love a Spring wedding at Belle Haven Country Club – especially one that involves the local star of the season, cherry blossom! This pretty-in-pink fete also featured peonies, ranunculus, garden roses, and hydrangea. The ladies of Kelley Cannon Events created so many other beautiful touches, we had to include a few of their fun ideas too! Enjoy!

Spring wedding season is here!

From the pretty-in-pink plum trees to sunshiney daffodils and rose-colored hellebores, it seems that spring is starting to bloom again! Pretty soon wedding season will be in full effect, and what better way to ring it in than with a trip down memory lane to one of our favorites from last season. These peachy-perfect bouquets were created with extra love, as the Bride is a college friend of Natalie’s and she had the honor of being both Bridesmaid and florist! The David Austin “Juliet” garden rose made for a gorgeous focal point, and was accompanied by maidenhair fern, scabiosa pods, peach stock, white hydrangea, and peach hypericum. A lace flower from her mom’s wedding dress was a lovely finishing touch on her silk ribbon wrap.

Texture gone wild

This is a tale of two Natalie’s who love texture and the abundance of interest that it can create. Natalie, the bride, found our shop and came in to talk to Natalie, the florista. Instantly, they connected over a shared love of all things organic – berries, fruits, foliage, thorns, herbs, vines – they loved it all! From the velvety smooth to the painfully thorny, they were simpatico in their desire to amp up the interest for Natalie’s November wedding at a vineyard in Virginia. A few petally sahara o’neal roses served to contrast the texture and bring in a touch of soft “bridal” beauty. The real showstoppers are the thistle, viburnum berry, artichokes, cotton, and brunia berry. Even if you aren’t thinking of going to this texture extreme, there’s so much that’s possible if you can think beyond the perfect petals and embrace a little of the wild and unexpected that’s out there in the exciting world of flowers.

Vibrant and Virtue-ous!

A favorite repeat client, ASCO, recently held their annual dinner at one of our favorite Old Town hot spots, Virtue Feed & Grain – and we were given free rein to create looks for the long farm tables that were modern and feminine without being too frilly. Combining vibrant jewel tones, twisted curly willow, and EatGoodFood Group‘s signature green apples, we kept the look compact and lush, but with a funky edge that works in the oh-so-cool and rustic Virtue. If you haven’t been to see the space and taste the deliciousness, you need to go. Like now.

Putting the man in manzanita!

At The Enchanted Florist, we get a thrill from surprising our customers and exceeding their expectations. For her son’s Birthday soiree at Poste Brasserie, our client requested floral arrangements for the tables but there was only one hitch – her son didn’t care for flowers all that much and didn’t think that anything was necessary. We couldn’t disagree more!!:) She came to us to design something that even he would enjoy – and we took on the challenge – creating a textural, monochromatic look that had a masculine edge. Focusing on succulents, manzanita branches, and cymbidium orchid blooms, this organic design nestled perfectly into the natural, modern setting of Poste.

p.s. Mom said the flowers were a hit with the guest of honor!

A Midsummer Night’s Eve

What better way to get D.C.’s hottest food writers into one room than to invite them to a fabulous 5-course dinner at Restaurant Eve? Owner Meshelle Armstrong’s theme for the night was “A Midsummer Night’s Eve”. Knowing how florals play an integral part in the overall ambiance of a great party, she came to us to complete her vision. Focusing on lush ferns and vines to create a wild and unstructured look, our designs were accented with Eve’s signature green apples and orange garden roses.

Next time you’re having a fun get together, why not come up with a creative theme too?

Joy-ful Wedding at the Carnegie Institute

Weddings contain some of our most special moments at The Enchanted Florist…and Joy’s wedding was full of them!! Held at the stunning Carnegie Institute – lush, soft florals in whites, creams, and lavenders were such a beautiful contrast to the impressive architecture of the space.

The Ceremony was especially stunning – with massive arrangements of white Cherry blossom flanking the room in the four lighted alcoves. It was a beautiful accent to the space, and we were lucky to still have the Cherry in season!

Presenting the bouquets is always one of my favorite moments, especially when a Bride is just as excited to see their flowers as we are to show them!! Joy’s mom was so sweet too – she totally teared up when she saw that the bouquet was wrapped in lace from her own Wedding veil.
